Must visit & Will be back again!! Steve has created such an amazing atmosphere fusing Japanese & American cuisine together in a very open and inviting way! We came for my mother-in-laws birthday, who is vegetarian, and had a great time. We ordered the loaded fries, chili garlic edamame, japanese bbq for 2, and an extra order of Hoshi Signature Hirami. All of the wagyu and fries were absolutely incredible. My husband had the Steve Old Fashioned, Twas *chefs kiss* with the Japanese whiskey. Steve, our server (didn’t catch her name I’m sorry) and the bartender (also forgot his name sorryX2) were phenomenal at their jobs but ALSO just great people. Definitely coming back in the fall to sit out on the patio and cook some more wagyu!! Thank you Steve!!

I can’t recommend Hoshi Ranch enough! From the moment we walked in we were met with hospitality and kindness. You can tell the folks here are passionate about what they do and the people that come in. We got the Japanese BBQ but wished we could try everything on the menu! The food was delicious, high quality, and made with care. Shout out the owner and his son for being so kind! Also wanted to shout out the Reviva coffee bar inside. The espresso martini they made was the best I’ve ever had. On top of all of this, it’s the perfect summer evening spot and the vibes are unmatched. We are so lucky to have this gem in McKinney! We will be back:)

Fantastic food and service! Would def recommend. We got the wagyu for 2 for $85, but also added on the outside skirt and an order of the loaded fries. My faves were the outside skirt & kalbi, but everything was really good. Arrive right when they start dinner service at 6p if you want the option to sit inside as they have fewer tables inside, but there's plenty of seating outside with half of it shaded and with fans. All the servers were so friendly and helpful with checking on our table, making suggestions, and sharing info about the menu, in-house coffee roasting, etc. ❤️

The vibe was awesome. It's nice having an outdoor Japanese bbq spot for a change. The service was excellent. The food - We tried the a little bit of everything, and everything was fantastic! Our favorite was... All, even the basque cheesecake. The mocha was also great. The burger looks good, and we already plan to try it next visit! There is a small shop indoors as well, selling meats, drinks, jerky, coffee beans, and merchandise. The owner Steve was genuinely nice. I hope to make it up here one day for a car meet. Will I drive 1+ hours for this again? Definitely. --- I had to edit just to say the beef jerky was really good.

The smash burger was very good and the highlight of our visit. The brisket had good flavor but wasn’t very tender. My husband ordered the 3-meat plate, and we were told the brisket is being discontinued due to mixed reviews. The pulled pork and sausage were average. The atmosphere was nice, and we were looking forward to live music (usually on Saturdays), but there wasn’t any during our visit. Overall, it felt pricey for what you get. Service was very slow—it took about 2 hours from ordering to getting drinks and finishing our meal sittingat the bar. The most disappointing part was being served expired beer. The Texas Light was past its date (12/2025), so we switched to a Lone Star, which had expired in 2024. To their credit, they replaced it with a non-expired beer to make it right. I also ordered sake, but the pour wasn’t full, which added to the disappointment. The owner, Steve, seemed very nice and attentive to others, explaining the Japanese BBQ experience, but he never came by the bar to speak to us especially knowing we had an issue with the old beer (bartender went to him after we expressed dissatisfaction about the old beer).
